Questions about abjad

Abjad is an ancient system that assigns a numeric value to each of the 28 letters of the Arabic alphabet. The letters follow the order «abjad, hawwaz, hutti, kalaman, sa'fas, qarashat, thakhadh, dazagh» and take values from 1 to 1000.

Every letter you enter is converted to its value in the Abjad-i Kabir table and the values are added up. Spaces, vowel marks and punctuation are ignored; Latin and Cyrillic letters are mapped to their closest Arabic equivalent.

The most accurate result comes from the spelling in the name's language of origin. Write names of Arabic origin in Arabic letters: for example, محمد = 92, علي = 110. A Latin spelling gives only an approximate result.

The total is divided by 4 and the remainder picks the dominant element: 1 — Fire, 2 — Earth, 3 — Air, no remainder — Water. The suggested dhikr matches that element, and its repetition count equals the name's abjad value.

The numeric calculation is mathematically exact. The element, harmony and dhikr interpretations follow traditional Jafr commentary and are provided for information.
